Okanagan FC are bringing Senior Club Soccer to Kelowna in 2021. It seems that we are seeing the ‘beginning of the end’ of covid and we are certainly looking forward to an easing of Public Health Order restrictions later in The Spring. By May we are hoping for the go ahead to resume adult competitive soccer, perhaps in a cohort format, and at OFC we are going to be more than ready for that to happen.
In 2019 we returned Senior Men’s Soccer to Kelowna after a seven year absence, since the old Okanagan Challenge folded in 2012. Our Senior Men’s team competed in The Pacific Coast Soccer League…making playoffs in our first season with a very respectable 4th place finish. We played our home matches at The Apple Bowl and created a very genuine hometown soccer matchday experience, with crowds of between 500 and 750 fans. The games were exciting to watch and the level of soccer on display was very good.
In 2020, until the pandemic arrived, our intention was to build on that…perhaps challenging for the title in front of 1000 or so fans. But sadly, it was not to be.
However, as we mentioned in our previous blog, we have been busy during the covid year !

In 2021 we will be fielding both Men’s and Women’s Senior Teams. Our Head Coaches, Carli Tingstad and Andrew Stevenson, are in place and are already building their squads. These teams will compete at the highest level that we can find for them…we do not subscribe to the view that teams from The Okanagan cannot be competitive with teams from The Lower Mainland, or The States, or Calgary, for example. We intend to prove that point this year.
Home matches will be played at The Apple Bowl, both men and women. We would love to think that we can get people along to watch, but that will depend upon Dr. Henry, of course. At a very minimum, these games will be available to the public via a live stream.
Evaluations for both teams will be at the end of April and interested players can register HERE.
From our evaluations registrations already, we are very confident that both teams are going to be very competitive indeed. We will have an announcement soon on what the playing schedule will look like and what type of opponent we can expect to be facing. Until then, we will continue our preparations and look forward to the day that our OFC Men’s and Women’s Senior Teams can take to the field and show what they can do.
