On a scorching hot, sunny day in Penticton this weekend, our U11/12 Development Team won the Easter Invitational Cup, defeating the home team 7-5 in the final to complete a tournament sweep for Soccaskool.

Despite missing several key players, and playing three 25 minute shifts with only one substitute, Soccaskool produced a fine performance against a very strong Penticton full squad.

Penticton went ahead early in the game and always looked dangerous when on the attack. However, Soccaskool stuck to their game plan and defended well in the early stages. Eventually we eased our way into the game and began to control possession of the ball, which started to result in creation of goal scoring opportunities. Diego started to run the show in centre midfield, and Kai was in deadly form up front. Goals from Kai and Grayson got us into the lead, but Penticton levelled it at 2-2.

Into the second period of the game, Soccaskool started to dominate and were able to establish a two goal lead. At this point we started to look
comfortable but the hosts never gave up and managed to stay within two goals the entire match to keep it close. A Penticton penalty near the end brought the score to 6-5 and made for an exciting last 5 minutes. Soccaskool were in no mood to let it slip away, however, and our players overcame extreme tiredness by this point to close out the match with a last minute goal by Adrianne to make it 7-5.

Match MVP went to Kai for his stunning 5 goal performance. In this form, Kai was way too hot for the Penticton defence to handle and he tormented them all afternoon with his trickery.

All in all, an excellent event for our U11/12 Development Team, who now head into the Spring phase of the season full of confidence.
