Our Soccaskool U11-12 Development Team were unusually slow to start during last weekends Penticton Easter Invitational Tournament. They started the tournament with a disappointing 4-2 Friday night defeat at the hands of the host Penticton U12 team and never really got going with some poor passing resulting in much less possession of the ball than we are normally used to having.
The Saturday morning game, which was a rematch between the same two teams was marginally better. This time Soccaskool came out on top in a close fought 3-2 win against a much improved and very determined Penticton team.
On Saturday afternoon the sun came out, and seemed to galvanize the Soccaskool team into action, romping to an impressive 7-1 victory against a somewhat shell shocked Shuswap U12 Development Team. Despite falling behind to an early goal, we were able to control the ball much better and create lots of goalscoring chances. The highlight of this match being a nice hat trick Grayson.
The same two teams were matched up again for a Sunday morning game, which was now effectively a semi final with the winners rewarded a place in the tournament final against Penticton. With confidence now returning, Soccaskool were in no mood to give up a cup final spot and played some nice soccer and ran out 9-1 winners to set up a game with Penticton U12 which is scheduled for next Saturday.
Well done to our boys, and good luck in the final next weekend !
